Arduino Lesson #3

Lesson Objectives: Compare and contrast serial and parallel circuits, examine Kirchhoff’s laws, compare the microprocessor to a battery.

Materials Required:

  • Breadboard
  • 9 V battery
  • Resistors (I used 6 x 100 Ohms)
  • LEDs
  • Wires
  • Microprocessor and cable
  • Voltmeter (optional)

Other helpful links that will assist with learning the content in this video:

  • An excellent tutorial on Kirchhoff’s Laws can be found here.
  • Other good examples of Kirchhoff’s Law and LEDs can be found here or here.

In your Arduino Notebook: Make sure you include the circuit diagrams for both circuits and the values of resistors used. Include the calculations that were specific for your resistors and LEDs. Explain the differences in series and parallel in your own words.
